About the Role

Specializes in debugging software using automated tests to achieve quality standards for company products. Executes test plans to ensure program functionality, consults with development engineers to address issues, and provides feedback for evaluation of programming languages, systems, and computation software.

Debugs software products using systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards. Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans, automated scripts, and programs for testing. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures, maintains documentation of test results, and analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality while recommending corrective action.

Responsibilities

  • Reports bugs for analysis and documents actual test results and metrics.
  • Gains a basic understanding of security concepts, evolving into complex competencies such as knowledge of database security mechanisms, encryption methods, and performing basic security testing and vulnerability assessments.
  • Validates data in databases and tests ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, including verifying data transformations, data mapping, and integration workflows.
  • Works closely with developers, data engineers, and other team members to understand data requirements and flows.
  • Communicates test findings effectively and assists in resolving issues.
  • Maintains detailed records of test cases, test results, and defects found during testing.
  • Collaborates with senior testers to document test plans and test strategies.
  • Executes test scripts and scenarios to validate data accuracy and integrity within databases, identifying and reporting data anomalies or discrepancies.
  • Assists in verifying data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, as well as testing data migrations and upgrades.
  • Creates and updates testing documentation as needed.
  • Develops skills in data profiling and quality analysis to identify patterns, anomalies, and trends in data.
  • Learns scripting languages like Python or SQL to automate repetitive testing tasks.
  • Familiarizes with advanced testing frameworks and tools specific to database testing.
  • Coordinates source file receipt with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Verifies input/output counts, supervises data processing jobs, and audits results based on historical trends.
  • Isolates and replicates defects, creating detailed reports.
  • Researches, troubleshoots, and resolves data or processing issues according to product, client, or third-party vendor specifications.
  • Advises the team and clients on necessary solution changes or fixes.
  • Demonstrates introductory understanding of the organization’s products/services and responds to customer inquiries.
  • Identifies customers’ needs using basic knowledge of the organization's products and services.

Qualifications

Required

  • Basic knowledge of Information Technology practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and database concepts.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience with the suite of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a bachelor’s degree, equivalent experience based on education, training, and/or experience will be considered.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience executing and maintaining automated and manual testing scripts.
  • Ability to document and report test results both internally and to external clients.
  • Completion of all aspects of defect management.
  • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Knowledge of data validation and ETL processes.
  • Experience with database testing tools and frameworks.
  • Basic scripting or programming skills.
  • Relevant internship or coursework related to database testing.
