About the role

Hyosung HICO is seeking to fill an Associate Test Lab Inspector position at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing hardware for power transformer testing, performing electrical and mechanical tests, and supporting the Quality/Production areas.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare hardware for power transformer testing; prepare wire connections, cable connections, mechanical assembly, and establish a “safe” test environment.
  • Under the guidance of the Test Lead/Supervisor, assist in performing electrical and mechanical tests on each transformer unit.
  • Prepare power transformers for tests; stage materials according to check sheets.
  • Take oil samples from each transformer unit and log oil test information, performing basic computer data entry.
  • Change transformer configurations as required to complete additional or next tests; read shop paperwork, drawings, mechanical/electrical assembly, staging tooling, staging parts/subassemblies, etc.
  • Verify test equipment calibration and report to the Test Lead/Supervisor when out of calibration status is noticed.
  • Operate cranes, power lifts, and other material-moving equipment as required.
  • Support and assist the Quality/Production areas as needed.
  • Perform work under the guidance and direction of the Test Lead and Test Lab Supervisor.
  • Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate HICO policy and/or procedures.
  • Know HICO's Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies and be able to fully discuss their importance and how they impact work.

Requirements

  • Two-year Associate’s Degree from a recognized school in electrical or related technical field.
  • Any electrical course degree or equivalent education and electrical sector experience will be considered.
  • Developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Developed math and electrical engineering skills.
  • Broad experience using inspection tools, instruments, and equipment.
  • Developed computer skills for entering and retrieving data.

Qualifications

  • Advanced ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical technical drawings.
  • Ability to inspect work.
  • Ability to work in normal indoor temperatures.
  • Ability to stand and walk 6-8 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit, squat, bend, stretch, and kneel frequently.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and climb/stand on ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to follow basic 6S workplace organization skills.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment.

Skills

  • Basic preventative maintenance and TPM on equipment and machines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
