ASSOCIATE TECHNICIAN - TECHNICIAN - Heavy Duty Engine Lab

About the role

The Heavy Duty Engine Lab of the Commercial Vehicle Systems Department is responsible for conducting emissions and fuel efficiency measurements of Diesel, Gasoline and alternative fueled engines. We support OEMs, Tier 1 Suppliers and Government agencies in evaluating future powertrain and assist with Research and Development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the department and division goals by supporting engine testing activities and assisting OEM engine manufactures with the development and certification of emissions compliant fuel efficient engines.
  • Support overall laboratory operations by performing a variety of mechanical tasks associated with installing, modifying and operating engines and test cells along with emissions analyzers and data recording equipment.
  • Support regularly scheduled test cell and laboratory operations including some evening, night and weekend shifts to assist with overall laboratory operations and productivity.
  • Aid in a variety of laboratory operations and help technical staff with daily test cells operation, calibrations and general mechanical activity.
  • Install test engines, test articles on test stands and assist with the related mechanical and fabrication tasks.
  • Perform basic engine related modifications, diagnostics and repairs.
  • Maintain adherence to operating policies and procedures and perform tasks in a safe and efficient manner while producing professional and quality results.
  • Show motivation and a willingness to learn and retain new skills and work productively with team members or in a solo environment while taking the lead on some activities.
  • Follow written and verbal instruction from management and project leaders.
  • Perform all other duties as requested by management and team leads.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Automotive, Mechanical, Engine Technology certifications preferred.
  • Shift work required.
  • 0-2 years: Automotive and mechanical experience preferred from either high school, vocational training or previous hands on engine and mechanical repair work.
  • Must be able to work overtime, shift work and weekends when needed.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Benefits

Additional $500 in your first paycheck, minus taxes.

$Competitive salary based on experience.
