About the role
We are an experienced research, development, and evaluation laboratory focusing on fuels and lubricants for various industries including marine vessels, locomotives, trucks, automobiles, and hand-held power tools. New hires receive an additional $500 in their first paycheck, after taxes.
Responsibilities
- To ensure and improve the quality control, compliance, and efficiency of petroleum products in the automotive industry.
- Communicate with lab supervisor and project managers to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.
- Perform engine testing on fuels using standard test methods and Test Inspection Procedures (TIPs).
- Complete testing in a safe manner by following safety practices and Environmental Management and Quality Systems.
- Support and manage adequate laboratory supply levels and assist in maintaining laboratory and instrumentation cleanliness.
- Perform test analysis in accordance with ASTM, TIP or laboratory procedures and specifications.
- Review and document calibration records, chemical expiration dates, and QA values before completing sample analysis.
- Operate gasoline and diesel test stand engines, calibrate instrumentation, clean and maintain test equipment as required.
- Perform engine maintenance and repairs as identified, such as greasing bearings, changing oil, and changing filters.
- Work on multiple tasks productively and effectively in a team or as an individual contributor with limited direct supervision.
- Work weekends and overtime when needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent. Laboratory technician classes or certifications preferred but not required.
- 0 years: Must be mechanically inclined. Automotive/mechanical experience obtained from high school, vocational training, or hands-on engine/mechanical repair work.
- Must be able to work safely with hand and power tools and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- General computer experience required with a working knowledge of software including Excel, Word.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Laboratory technician classes or certifications preferred but not required.
Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with engine testing and calibration.
- Knowledge of safety practices and environmental management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
