About the role
The Associate Teacher is an integral part of the classroom at Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts. He/she is both a collaborator as well as an assistant. Associate Teachers will be provided additional training in pedagogy and instruction in order to be effective classroom assistants. Reports to the Assistant Principal and/or Principal.
Responsibilities
- Works with teachers to address individual needs of students
- Works with students individually or in small groups, under supervision
- Aids in classroom management
- Uses materials effectively and keeps activity focused on objectives
- Attends professional development training
- Keeps students on task
- Prepares class materials
- Delivers direct services to students or parents
- Serves in a position under the direction of a teacher who has the direct responsibility for the design and implementation of the education program and services
- Works as a teammate under the direction and supervision of a teacher
- Makes independent decisions when supervising students
- Tutors and assists students individually or in small groups
- Adapts to constantly changing needs
- Communicates and works effectively with a diverse student population
Qualifications
- College graduate, with an Associate Degree or higher
- Two years successful experience in an educational setting
