Associate Teacher

About the role

We are seeking an associate teacher for a progressive preschool in the Pico-Robertson area. The position is open to those who have a passion for early education and are committed to fostering a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• 12 ECE units (B.A. or B.S. preferred).
• 1 year of classroom teaching experience.
• Fluent in English.
• Able to bend, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
• First Aid/CPR certification required.

Requirements

• Lift and move up to 20-50 lbs (35 lbs for toddler classrooms).
• Bend, crouch, sit, stand, and move throughout the day.
• Work indoors and outdoors.
• Respond quickly in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in daily classroom routines, enrichment, and curriculum implementation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Support diapering, potty-training, and hygiene needs.
• Model respectful, reflective interactions with children at all times.
• Foster positive peer interactions and support independent conflict resolution.
• Communicate professionally with staff in partnership with the Lead Teacher and team.
• Uphold Piper’s community values and positive school culture.

Expectations

• Lead with positivity and professionalism.
• Check email daily and communicate clearly with staff and Administration.
• Remain actively engaged with children—never leaving a child unsupervised.
• Follow all Piper policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.

Pay

Salary is based on experience and education. Additional benefits include sick leave, paid holidays after probationary period, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and a 401K Plan.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, operating hours: 8 am - 5:00 pm.
