About the role
Key areas of responsibility include assisting in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum directly connected to the needs and interests of the children; keeping children safe and healthy through proper supervision, authentic interaction, and practicing good health habits; assisting in creating exciting and enriched environments connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with parents to support, guide, and share in their child’s development.
- Work collaboratively with other staff by practicing workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player.
- Provide excellent customer service for families, school, community, and each other.
- Lift 30 lbs. chest high, walk, squat, bend, and stand; move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children.
Requirements
- 12 or more college semester credits or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood or Child Development education at an accredited or approved college or university, including 3 units in Infant care and education.
- 1-2 years of experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old in an infant, toddler, or preschool early learning or group childcare program.
- CPR and First Aid Certified.
- Pass a physical exam.
Qualifications
- Valid CA Associate Teacher Child Development permit desired (required for funded programs).
- Knowledge or understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, PITC, Preschool Learning Foundations, Desired Results Developmental Profile, Teaching Pyramid, and Inclusive practices preferred.
