About the role
The Associate Store Manager (ASM) at United Dairy Farmers is a supportive role that shares responsibilities with the Store Manager. In the absence of the Store Manager, the ASM assumes operational duties including people, operational, guest service, and other operations.
Responsibilities
- Assigning/monitoring performance of duties, coaching The Hi Five Guest Experience, and training of all store associates (First Assistant Managers, Assistant Managers, Shift Leaders and Guest Services Associates) in all store processes.
- Provides direct counseling to associates as well as input to Store Manager for counseling/discipline of associates.
- Performs screening interviews with applicants.
- Trains current and new associates.
- Managing the overall Guest Experience by ensuring the delivery of an outstanding experience to every Guest.
- Performing store administration duties such as ordering, reviewing weekly delivery reports, transferring products, completing paperwork as directed by Store Manager or District Supervisor.
- Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the shift while complying with all laws and regulations, and all company policies and requirements.
- Performing security duties including maintaining awareness of all Guests in the store/on the lot, controlling cash levels in the register, and reviewing video as needed for investigative purposes.
- Maintaining the store and parking lot in a safe, clean, and organized condition, keeping store equipment clean, and monitoring product and refrigeration equipment temperatures.
- Reporting accurately completed time records and The Hi Five Readiness Planner.
Requirements
- Ability to speak, hear and understand spoken English well enough to communicate effectively with customers.
- Ability to see well enough to operate store equipment, including POS terminal, gas console, check identification documents, and to use price book.
- Ability to understand operating instructions for store equipment and to operate all store equipment.
- Ability to prepare DipSide items using supplies located in the dip cabinets.
- Ability to handle coins, currency, checks, credit transactions, coupons, and food stamps, recognize denominations, and accurately make change.
- Ability to recognize numbers, count, and do arithmetic well enough to complete required records.
- Ability to move merchandise from storage to shelves/displays/freezers/milk box and place for proper display.
- Ability to clean counters and other surfaces.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as low as –30 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 2 minutes and +33 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 10 minutes.
- Ability to raise at least 10 pounds from floor level to a height of 5 feet.
- Ability to place an 8” x 10” x 10” package weighing 21 pounds into a dip cabinet, the top of which is 3 feet above the floor.
- Ability to coach, teach, and train associates on key store operating processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with associates and guests.
- Ability to effectively recruit and select candidates for store roles.
- Ability to make quick decisions and work in a rapid-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills to lead the successful operation of the store.
