ASSOCIATE STORE MANAGER

About the Role

The Associate Store Manager (ASM) at United Dairy Farmers provides support and assumes a portion of the same responsibilities as the Store Manager. In the absence of the Store Manager, the ASM makes decisions related to the overall operation of the store, including people, operations, guest service, and other operational issues. The primary responsibility is ensuring the delivery of an outstanding experience to every guest by following the five stages of The Hi Five Guest Experience.

Schedule

Full Time (40 hours per week); minimum of five (5) shifts each week, including three (3) scheduled first shifts and two (2) second shifts opposite the Store Manager’s schedule. Minimum of two (2) scheduled weekends per month.

Pay

$16.50/hour - $19.00/hour plus quarterly bonus eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Managing, training, and coaching other associates, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and providing direct counseling.
• Performing screening interviews with applicants and training current and new associates.
• Handling store administration tasks such as ordering, reviewing delivery reports, transferring products, and completing paperwork.
• Delivering the signature UDF Hi Five Guest Experience, including greeting guests, maintaining store readiness, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Preparing shakes, malts, ice cream, sundaes, and other dipside items, and training associates on proper techniques.
• Operating the point of sale system and gas console, handling transactions, and managing cash levels.
• Stocking merchandise, ensuring proper rotation, and checking for out-of-code dates.
• Maintaining store security, including minimizing shoplifting, controlling cash levels, and following safety programs.
• Keeping the store and parking lot clean, safe, and organized, and monitoring equipment temperatures.
• Completing accurate time records and reporting tools, such as The Hi Five Readiness Planner.
• Performing other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to speak, hear, and understand spoken English well enough to communicate effectively with customers and associates.
• Ability to see well enough to operate store equipment, check identification, and use price books.
• Ability to understand operating instructions for store equipment and prepare dipside items.
• Ability to handle coins, currency, checks, credit transactions, coupons, and food stamps, and make accurate change.
• Ability to recognize numbers, count, and perform arithmetic for completing records.
• Ability to move merchandise from storage to shelves, displays, freezers, and milk boxes.
• Ability to clean counters and other surfaces.
• Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as low as -30°F for at least 2 minutes and +33°F for at least 10 minutes.
• Ability to lift at least 10 pounds from floor level to a height of 5 feet and place a 21-pound package into a dip cabinet.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills to lead store operations.
• Ability to make quick decisions and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Legally qualified under applicable state laws to conduct all sales transactions, including alcohol and tobacco.
