About the role
Associate Specialist, Value Stream Cryo Operations is responsible for the cryopreservation, movement, storage, and control of patient materials used in manufacturing, as well as support of liquid nitrogen storage tanks and equipment at the CAR T manufacturing facility in Summit, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Perform cryopreservation and management of patient materials, including processing, storage, transfer, distribution, and disposal.
- Maintain sample tracking and chain of custody in compliance with GMP requirements and written procedures.
- Ensure expired or obsolete materials are disposed of according to approved procedures.
- Execute sample queries, inventory tracking, and periodic storage reporting.
- Support investigations, deviations, and CAPA closure activities related to cryopreservation and sample processes/cryopreserved materials.
- Execute manual and electronic batch records in accordance with cGMPs, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Maintain on-time execution of cryopreservation and logistics activities aligned with production schedules.
- Manage LN2 storage inventory and support daily cryopreservation operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve processes and drive operational efficiencies.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and compliant documentation in line with GDP requirements, resolving errors promptly.
- Partner with management to ensure adequate training and readiness of personnel.
- Operate effectively in a team-based, cross-functional environment and apply problem-solving with minimal supervision.
- Support flexible scheduling, including overtime and staggered shifts, as required by business needs.
Job Safety Requirements & Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to safely handle chemical disinfectants, flammable materials, and hazardous chemicals.
- Ability to independently don, doff, and wear required PPE (e.g., sterile scrubs, socks, gloves, safety shoes, safety glasses) for extended periods.
- Ability to handle liquid nitrogen and cryogenically cooled materials while wearing required cryogenic PPE during work shift (e.g., cryogenic gloves, apron, face shield, supplied air respirator, personal air monitor).
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs from floor to overhead height and push or maneuver carts and/or ergotrons requiring up to 20 lbs of initiation force.
- Ability to use step stools to reach and handle materials.
- Ability to appropriately respond to alarms and emergency conditions related to cryogenic storage and material handling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR Associate degree or Medical Technical degree with 0–2 years of manufacturing or operations experience OR High School diploma/GED with 2–4 years of manufacturing or operations experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of cGMP and FDA-regulated environments.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- General understanding of cGMP requirements.
- Technical writing capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with inventory control and management.
- Background in biology, chemistry, or medical/clinical practices is a plus.
Pay
Summit West - NJ - US: $31.90 – $38.65 per hour. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
