Associate Software Engineer

About the role
This onsite position in Huntsville, AL supports the modernization of modeling and simulation tools for Department of War (DoW) medical planning. The role involves transitioning desktop applications to web applications and integrating with external systems for seamless data ingestion. The candidate will work within a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop browser-based user interfaces using Microsoft Blazor web framework.
- Develop back-end business logic and APIs to integrate with cloud services, primarily AWS.
- Support debugging and troubleshooting of development, test, and production issues.
- Participate in the full software development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, test, deployment).
- Collaborate with software development teams, designers, system engineers, testers, and technical writers.
- Work with UI/UX designers to shape product experiences, provide technical feedback, and develop scalable, maintainable interfaces aligned with usability, accessibility, and performance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in application development with a focus on the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.
- U.S. citizenship (required for DoW Secret level clearance).
Skills
Required Technical Skills
- Experience developing applications using the C# programming language.
- Experience designing relational database schemas and developing SQL queries.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Experience using AI code generation tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.).
- Experience developing web applications using:
- .NET 8+
- Blazor web framework (Server and WebAssembly)
- ASP.NET Core
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Beginner experience with:
- Docker containers
- Highly regulated cloud enclaves (AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government)
- Third-party UI and mapping components such as Infragistics, DevExpress, and/or ThinkGeo
- Familiarity with:
- Microsoft Visual Studio Professional
- Microsoft Azure DevOps
- Responsible AI principles
