Associate Software Engineer
KAYAK, part of Booking Holdings (NASDAQ: BKNG), is a leading travel search engine helping people find their perfect flight, stay, rental car, and vacation package. As part of our team, you’ll work within a portfolio of global metasearch brands including momondo, Cheapflights, and HotelsCombined. This role is based in either our Cambridge or Concord, MA office, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on-site.
About the role
Join our Cars Meta UI team, which builds the search experience used by millions of travelers daily. You’ll deliver well-scoped front-end features, collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers, and grow quickly with support from senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Implement clean, maintainable React and TypeScript code that meets team quality standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into polished, user-facing experiences across web and mobile
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
- Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure reliability and prevent regressions
- Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to improve development velocity and code quality
- Engage in agile ceremonies—sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives—to keep delivery on track
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or a portfolio demonstrating foundational skills)
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; exposure to TypeScript preferred
- Hands-on experience with React or a comparable modern UI framework
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative codebases
- Ability to use AI coding tools to enhance development velocity and code quality
- Clear communication, collaboration, and openness to feedback
- Capacity to thrive in a hybrid model, attending the office at least 3 days per week

Pay
Salary range for this Massachusetts-based role: $95,000–$105,000, plus annual bonus and recurring RSU grants.
