Associate Software Development Engineer (Remote US)

About the role

We are looking for a talented Associate Backend Software Engineer - (AI, Java, Vert.x, AWS) to join our Signals Software team, building our next generation cloud notebook application. You will be focused on the back-end design and development of our cloud notebook product, helping turn marketing requirements into an easy to use and elegant application designed for the scientific community.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with fellow team members on priorities, specifications, and feature implementation
• Craft well-documented, clean, and tested code
• Create secure, performant interfaces and services
• Build and maintain new, high-impact functionality into Signals Notebook
• Work with cloud services and technologies

Requirements

• 1-3 years of professional work experience
• 1 years of Java programming skills
• 1-3 years' experience with Reactive Programming (Vert.x)
• 1 year experience using AI-powered developer tools and productivity suites on a daily basis, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT, or similar AI assistant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is preferred
• Thorough understanding of and experience with structured software development methodologies including design, development, and testing in an Agile environment
• Strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams
• Excellent work ethic and strong sense of ownership of end result
• Entrepreneurial minded, creative problem solver, and innovative thinker
• Exposure to CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub)
• Experience working with JDBC in a transactional application (using any RDBMS, but preferably PostgreSQL)
• An awareness of performance implications of different queries and inserts/updates

Pay

The base salary range for this full-time position is $74,000 - $95,000.

Schedule

The working hours for this position will be EST.
