Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking an Associate Software Developer to be based in Aiken, SC at the Savannah River Site (SRS).

About the role

The Associate Software Developer develops, designs, and/or modifies operating facility web-based applications and related software applications. Responsibilities include planning system and development deployment, meeting software compliance standards, evaluating interfaces between operational requirements, hardware, and software, and documenting testing and maintenance of system corrections.

This role designs and maintains web-based, mobile technology, cloud, and security interfaces to meet user needs. The developer generates, revises, updates, compiles, debugs, and writes scientific or software computer programs, applying software development principles and concepts to solve technical problems of limited scope. Additional duties include developing flow charts, diagrams, and program code, preparing documentation, conducting program tests, and analyzing system capabilities to resolve input/output problems.

Work is closely supervised and follows specific, detailed instructions. Errors typically do not have a major effect on the organization. Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisors, project leaders, and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and modify web-based applications and related software.
  • Plan system and development deployment; ensure software compliance standards.
  • Evaluate interfaces between operational requirements, hardware, and software.
  • Document testing and maintenance of system corrections.
  • Design and maintain web-based, mobile, cloud, and security interfaces.
  • Generate, revise, update, compile, debug, and write software programs (e.g., C#, VB.net, XML, HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET).
  • Develop flow charts and diagrams outlining process steps.
  • Prepare documentation of program development, code modifications, and operating instructions.
  • Conduct program tests and analyze system capabilities to resolve input/output problems.
  • Provide patches and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Support the design of user-specific interfaces.
  • Compile documentation and analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, and input data acquisition.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field other than Computer Science, Associate’s degree in a computer science or related field, or High School diploma with relevant practical experience.
  • Sound technical knowledge of discipline’s standard concepts, principles, and techniques.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with various levels of employees, including explaining technical details to non-technical individuals.
  • Familiarity with operational Support Systems, including facility control room Electronic Status Boards (ESB), Electronic Operator Rounds (EOR), and Limited Condition of Operations (LCO) tracking systems.
  • Awareness of facility regulatory operating basis and other facility control systems.
  • GPA of 2.8 or higher (must be listed in profile).

Pay

USD $56,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year. Exceptions to this range may be applied on a case-by-case basis, considering education, experience, and organizational needs.
