Responsibilities
- Captures and implements action planning with individual hospitals.
- Coaches and mentors new and troubled CNOs in advocating for nursing departments.
- Coordinates all activities with the hospital CEO.
- Reviews nurse leadership structure at assigned hospital.
- Sets expectations for accountability of nurse leader roles; makes role clarifications or changes if necessary.
- Reviews staffing and scheduling, addressing challenges, vacancies, and turnover.
- Evaluates department interactions and efficiency of interdisciplinary team relationships.
- Evaluates the working relationship between nurses and physicians; provides coaching or mentoring as needed.
- Assesses and promotes senior team interaction and support.
- Coordinates the CNO Preceptor Program for the region.
- Rounds on units to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for growth.
- Utilizes patient satisfaction data to implement processes aimed at improving the patient experience.
- Assesses compliance with various programs and practices such as STOP, API, bedside report, and rounding.
- Works with hospital leadership, representing regional and national nursing expectations.
- Assesses orientation for new RNs and ensures onboarding processes are followed.
- Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations.
- Reviews staffing matrices and acuities compared to actual staffing levels.
- Ensures appropriate nursing personnel are present to provide safe patient care.
- Reports any questionable situations, concerns, complaints, or harassment immediately.
- Supports company and hospital patient satisfaction programs; collaborates with hospitals to implement and sustain these programs.
- Collaborates with other managers to coordinate care, resolve concerns, and address needs.
- Identifies and utilizes appropriate resources to effectively and successfully execute responsibilities.
- Complies with standards of business conduct, state/federal regulations, and guidelines.
- Participates in regional, national conference calls, meetings, and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Nursing Administration or related field, with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nursing administration, preferably in a healthcare setting. Experience in regulatory compliance, staff development, and team building is highly desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
