About the role
The Select Group is looking for an Associate Project Engineer in Detroit. The Associate Civil Engineer provides engineering support for electric distribution and power generation infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the review of civil and structural engineering design packages for electric distribution, substation, and power generation projects.
- Review construction drawings, site plans, grading plans, drainage plans, and supporting engineering calculations under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
- Participate in engineering design reviews, project meetings, and coordination discussions.
- Support project managers and senior engineers with project planning, execution, and closeout activities.
- Absorb and track engineering review comments and support resolution of technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 2–5 years of civil engineering experience in utility infrastructure, site development, municipal engineering, transportation, or related industries.
- Understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and engineering design processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel occasionally throughout Michigan to support project and field activities.
- Valid driver's license.
