About the role

The Department of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise in the specific area of retina is required. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities may include teaching residents, students and fellows at Scheie.
  • Clinical responsibilities may include providing medical and surgical retina care for patients at Scheie and one of Scheie's satellite offices.
  • Research or scholarship responsibilities may include collaborative or independent research within the specific area of retina.

Requirements

While both tenure and clinician-educator faculty conduct methodological and collaborative research, tenure track faculty focus primarily on independent, investigator-driven research, while clinician educator-track focus primarily on collaboration. Applicants in mid-career with a demonstrated record of scholarship are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
