Associate Professor-Professor: Air Traffic Control

About the role

This is a 10-month academic year position and is available for the Fall 2026 semester, beginning on August 18, 2026.

Accountabilities

  • Teaches Air Traffic Control related courses and other related courses as assigned.
  • Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development of instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, clearly define course goals, observe program and institutional accreditation standards, promote critical thinking and life skills, and respond to diverse academic needs.
  • Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs and advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters and exercises professional judgment in referring students to appropriate personnel.
  • Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these to students and maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs.
  • Captures departmental activities and operations by developing credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, sharing teaching and learning methodologies with peers, serving as an academic resource, cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with business and industry within the field of air traffic control, providing leadership in the development of articulation initiatives, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, and requisitioning instructional equipment, supplies or classroom materials.
  • Affirms college sponsored recruitment and retention activities including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned.
  • Engages in professional activities related to air traffic control that partner the college with the wider community by serving on college or system teams, or participating in community-sponsored events, as assigned.
  • Remains technologically and pedagogically current within the field of air traffic control through participation in relevant professional associations and educational and training activities. Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations/communication.
  • Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
  • Trains students in accordance with Federal regulations and safety procedures.
  • Ensures curriculum and updates to comply with Federal regulations.
  • Tests students according to Federal standards.
  • Serves on and leads college or system committees, as assigned.
  • Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations including; but not limited to, health and safety policies, the State of NH Policy on Sexual Harassment, administrative rules, civil rights laws, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in aviation management, aviation technology, air traffic control/airspace management, education, business administration, engineering, or related field. Possession of a Bachelors degree in education, engineering, business administration or other related field shall require an Associates degree with an aviation concentration.
  • Experience: Six (6) years of teaching, business or industry, in the field of air traffic Control (Tower and RADAR) or aviation management, or related field
  • OR
  • Education: Associates degree from a regionally accredited college or technical school with major study in aviation technology.
  • Experience: Eight (8) years of teaching, business, or industry, in the field of air traffic Control (Tower and RADAR) or aviation management, or related field.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid drivers license; FAA Professional Controller Certification

Preferred Qualifications/Certifications

  • Experience with aviation training program management; Air traffic Control safety team experience.

Recommended Work Traits

  • Thorough knowledge of teaching methods, the use of instructional materials and the organization of subject matter into effective teaching units in technology or other specialized programs.
  • Complete knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and equipment in subjects being taught.
  • Ability to evaluate student progress and provide guidance to both students and instructors.
  • Ability to supervise professional instructional staff and collaborate in development of programs, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with businesses and community organizations.
  • Ability to originate and implement new programs and to improve existing programs.
