Associate Professor of Transplant & Hepatobiliary Surgery

About the role

The Department of Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is actively recruiting an Experienced Abdominal Transplant Surgeon for a full-time faculty position. Independent experience in liver transplant is required. Mastery in organ procurement including donation after circulatory death is also required. Experience in normothermic regional perfusion and machine perfusion is desirable. Clinical and translational research interests and experience are also desirable. Academic rank and additional leadership opportunities are commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent surgical procedures in abdominal transplantation, including liver transplant
• Mastery in organ procurement, particularly donation after circulatory death
• Experience with normothermic regional perfusion and machine perfusion
• Contribute to clinical and translational research
• Teach and mentor students and residents
• Participate in renal and pancreas transplant programs in affiliated programs within the RWJ Barnabas Health System

Requirements

• Independent experience in liver transplant surgery
• Mastery in organ procurement, including donation after circulatory death
• Experience with normothermic regional perfusion and machine perfusion

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Board certification in general surgery and/or transplantation surgery
• Successful completion of a surgical residency program
