Associate Production Supervisor

About the role
The Associate Supervisor is a leader for our HPP associates, typically overseeing 1 or 2 HPP Lines. They are responsible for carrying out and delivering the expectations and customer demands set by the Operations Manager and HPP Supervisor. Associate Supervisors oversee manufacturing activities and undertake a combination of physical and mental work, from filling out paperwork to managing production assembly lines and helping their team complete orders. Team leaders are strong communicators who motivate teams to achieve Productivity, Schedule, Safety, and GMP targets.
Responsibilities
- Assign all associates to workstations, daily tasks, and expected outcomes.
- Communicate and execute work assignments to meet department and customer requirements.
- Monitor and lead employees during shifts to ensure compliance with GMP and Safety Regulations.
- Train and hold associates accountable for department, QA, Safety, and HPP processes and procedures.
- Complete required department paperwork and ensure all submitted paperwork is accurate.
- Communicate with leadership, QA department, and Maintenance team.
- Monitor staff progress and track it for future line assignments.
- Motivate team members to meet production goals.
- Examine completed work (in-process and finished goods) to detect defects and verify conformance to specifications.
- Collaborate with machine operators, supervisors, and management to ensure progress and timely completion of orders.
- Execute line changeovers when switching products and ensure proper line clearance.
- Ensure CIPs (Clean-In-Place) are handled according to documented processes, schedules, and timelines.
- Update the performance board for responsible lines hourly, ensuring data accuracy and explaining any excursions from targets.
- Maintain optimal labor use by reassigning staff as needed due to schedule changes or unexpected machine shutdowns.
- Maximize machine uptime and optimize labor utilization.
- Troubleshoot issues with HPP, conveyors, printers, and escalate to Maintenance with urgency.
- Report persistent or repeat issues to the supervisor for disciplinary action.
- Communicate changeovers with the Quality department and Production team to ensure third-party verification.
Requirements
- Excellent attendance and punctuality for an hourly role.
- Must be flexible with work schedule and job duties in a changing environment.
- Good communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
- Proven legible writing skills.
- High school diploma or GED.
Qualifications
- Machine operator experience is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a cold storage environment is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Largely static role with long periods of standing and walking; requires repetitive bending and standing up.
- Ability to lift 10–35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally.
- Operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (~35°F) for 8–12 hours a day.
- May work with allergenic food ingredients as referenced by the FDA.
