Northrop Grumman’s Armament Systems business unit is a leading innovator and producer of advanced weapons that provide the warfighter superior battlefield capabilities. The unit specializes in manufacturing medium and large caliber weapon platforms, including systems that protect soldiers and reduce collateral damage. As a leading supplier of integrated medium-caliber weapon systems for land, air, and sea platforms, Armament Systems produces the world-renowned Bushmaster® line of automatic cannons at its Mesa, Arizona facility. The division also manages America’s largest privately owned proving grounds, enabling rapid testing and demilitarization of weapons.

About the role

Northrop Grumman’s Armament Systems is seeking an Associate (Level 1) Production Planning and Scheduler for our facility in Mesa, AZ. This onsite role supports our 2nd shift (2:30 PM – 1:00 AM) on a Monday–Thursday, 4x10 schedule. The Production Planner and Scheduler will serve as Production Control’s representative on the manufacturing floor, acting as a liaison between the warehouse, operations, and production control within a team environment across the Guns Production Range campus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate material delivery to the floor in support of the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Manage and coordinate material needs in the factory to keep production moving and support organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with program Production Control Schedulers to resolve manufacturing order delays for all program builds.
  • Finalize product staging and accurately queue the production plan to drive on-time-to-start manufacturing orders.
  • Resolve MES and Costpoint issues on behalf of the Production Control team.
  • Maintain COTS material forward stock supply on the floor to cover manufacturing incidentals.
  • Monitor build progress through the factory and escalate actions to prevent production line-down scenarios.
  • Prioritize and expedite incoming material to ensure timely inspection, acceptance, and inventory placement for manufacturing requirements.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activity with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Traffic, and Contract Administration.
  • Schedule and expedite the movement of parts via move orders, stock transfers, and shipping requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0 years of experience, or 4 years of related experience in production planning and scheduling with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) required.
  • Experience with Costpoint and MES is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Excellent math and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field, preferably Supply Chain, with 1 year of related experience.

Pay

Primary salary range: $49,400.00 – $74,200.00. The final offer considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
