Coordinate and Expedite Work and Materials

Review material requirements, generate requisitions, track and expeditious, and coordinate shipments.

Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates.

Compile reports on progress of work, forecast and maintain required inventory levels, costs, and devise solutions to material planning problems.

Working Procedures

  • Get information from various departments including Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Accounting, Programs, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and/or Contracts.
  • Communicate with supervisors, peers, and subordinates by phone, in writing, email, or in person.
  • Attend staff, planning, production, and program meetings to provide updated relevant information to the appropriate parties.
  • Update and track status in Sharepoint.

Interacting with Computers

  • Use computers to enter, access, or retrieve data, including email, MS Office, ERP systems.

Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work

  • Forecast volume and timing of material purchases required to meet firm and anticipated customer orders.
  • Determine time-phased material requirements based on product structure, build sequence, and lead time for both firm and anticipated orders.
  • Prioritize and expedite materials, documents, information, and instructions as needed to support schedule requirements.
  • Maintain costs spent, report regularly cost and schedule status.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and track earned value status on assigned programs.
  • Develop control feedback procedures to measure actual performance versus planned performance.
  • Prepare variance reports and analyze results to recommend recovery plans.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in manufacturing, planning, or inventory control preferred.
