About the role
The Associate Product Manager supports up to three product lines, executing tactical steps in product categories. This includes new product launch activities and legacy product sustaining tasks, involving basic technical support of sales, Customer Service, and other departments. This position provides input to leadership for roadmap planning and develops critical thinking skills for product line growth and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Carry out market, technology, and competitive assessments
- Aid in establishing product vision and defining the product roadmap
- Analyze product line performance, such as profitability, forecasts, inventory levels, etc., and provide recommendations to management
- Create business proposals
- Manage applicable deliverables for Phase/Gate product development process
- Establish product pricing and assess product costs and gross margins
- Coordinate product launches
- Recommend marketing materials and assist with their development
- Create product forecasts and coordinate to establish appropriate inventory levels
- Support support function activities to sustain product line
- Support sales channels to make assigned product lines successful
- Develop appropriate training materials for the value chain
- Manage all web-related activities for assigned product lines
- Act as the technical "go-to" person for assigned product lines
- Support the development of product line strategies
- Support all applicable deliverables for Phase/Gate product development process
Qualifications
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate effective presentations to groups of employees and managers
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with customers that lead to the sale of assigned products
- Organize teams to support the development of business opportunities
- Be proficient in MS Office applications
- Be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information exists
- Have strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills
- Have knowledge of product design capabilities
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical/business field is required
- Background in automotive industry a plus (EVSE product line only)
- 1-3 years experience in a technical or business related field
- Experience with Oracle or related ERP platforms is a plus
- Experience with manufacturing and operations processes a plus
- Experience with regulatory or standards organizations, such as UL, CSA, and NOM a plus
- Working knowledge of electric vehicles including automotive manufacturers and terminology
