About the role

The News Department at Univision Arizona is seeking an experienced News Producer to join their dynamic team. This role involves generating, planning, and developing ideas for newscasts, writing and preparing broadcast material, and overseeing the on-air look of news broadcasts.

Responsibilities

  • Generate story ideas, dispatch news crews and reporters during news meetings.
  • Oversee the on-air look of news broadcasts to ensure compliance with station policies.
  • Proofread rundown and copy for accuracy before airing.
  • Oversee the production of assigned broadcast content, including writing of teases/ headlines, ordering of graphics, and supervision of story assignments.
  • Work as a liaison between the producer, photographers, and reporters in the field.
  • Prepare newscast runnout on iNews system for morning newscasts.
  • Supervise the writing and pre-production of each element of the newscast, including anchor-read stories and reporter full tracks, video editing, and graphics.
  • Line produce and back-time newscasts while on air.
  • Create and execute original stories for show development and execution of sweeps projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience as a News Producer.
  • Full command of the Spanish language both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • A strong sense of journalistic ethics and excellent editorial judgment.
  • A good understanding of local, state, and national current events.
  • Knowledge of the Latino community demographics in Arizona.
  • Possession of leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Solid news judgment and ethics.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of newsroom operations and electronic news gathering (ENG).
  • Ability to work with various types of office equipment and computers.

Skills

  • Proficiency in digital content creation.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Comfortable leading a team and taking initiative.
