Associate Producer
About the role
Kentucky Educational Television (KET) seeks an Associate Producer to join our dynamic team in Lexington, Kentucky. KET is a statewide media organization that broadcasts into eight states and ten media markets, offering high-quality PBS programming and producing hundreds of hours of award-winning local productions.
Responsibilities
- Research content and organize pre-production meetings
- Create and organize pre-production notes
- Write preliminary scripts and scout and schedule location shoots
- Aid in travel arrangements for producers, crew, and talent
- Help direct and organize crew members and talent
- Prepare sets and studios for guests and greet them
- Log footage, perform basic videography and video editing, write transcripts, organize and archive media files, and assist with post-production editing, graphics, and audio sessions
- Perform social media tasks including posting behind-the-scenes production pictures and video on social media platforms
- Create video segments and post segments and other content on KET.org and social media platforms
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of records necessary for production, broadcast, and digital use including facilities requests, budgets, rights, contracts, music cue sheets, releases, copyright information, operational records, and reports
- Work with direction from Producers and Directors to accomplish KET production goals
- Contribute to and execute the creative and editorial vision of KET productions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field plus two (2) years of related experience preferred
- Practical experience in these fields may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer, broadcast writing, and communications skills
- Flexible schedule and availability for occasional weekend and overnight travel
Qualifications
- Basic video editing experience is required
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, in an environment of multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Knowledge and interest in Kentucky politics, history, and culture preferred

Schedule
Employee occasionally moves/lifts/carriges equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally required to operate equipment while standing/sitting for extended periods of time.
