Associate Producer

About the role

FOX 5 Atlanta is seeking an Associate Producer to join their news team. The ideal candidate will have a background in fast-paced news writing and digital storytelling.

Responsibilities

• You will write stories, build visual graphics, coordinate live field coverage, and distribute content across multiple platforms.
• Work directly with Producers, field crews, and digital teams to power multi-platform news coverage.
• Write for broadcast and streaming, assist in the control room during live newscasts, and manage digital and social publishing.
• Support field communications, schedule interviews, and organize package shoots as needed.
• Collaborate on-site to ensure seamless integration with news, production, and digital teams.

Requirements

• One (1) year of producing or newsgathering experience at a commercial television station is preferred.
• Experience editing video segments for broadcast is a strong plus.
• Sharp news judgment and strong language skills.
• Proven skill in writing conversational broadcast copy with visual storytelling elements under daily deadline pressure.
• Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Experience with newsroom systems including iNews, BitCentral, Chyron LUCI/Axis, Spark CMS, and Slack.
• Clear, effective, and polite communication skills when interacting with news sources, field crews, and the public.
• A flexible mindset ready to adapt to breaking news and shifting station priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $26.44-28.85 per hour, along with various benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and more. Benefits for union-represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
