About the role
GIC is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds with over 2,000 employees globally. The Special Opportunities Group focuses on defensive and uncorrelated investments including distressed debt, real assets, royalties, insurance, structured credit, and special situations.
Responsibilities
- Direct investments and co-investments: Participate in all aspects of the underwriting process for direct investments and co-investments. Evaluate key risk/return drivers, market dynamics, financial performance, management teams, capital structures, and deal terms.
- Fund investments: Participate in all aspects of the underwriting process for fund investments. Evaluate the fund manager’s strategy, track record, investment and execution capabilities, and culture. Meet and appraise senior management at top investment firms.
- Research and develop investment themes and strategy.
- Maintain awareness of the macroeconomic environment and monitor portfolio performance.
Qualifications or Skills
- 2-4 years of work experience at an investment bank, buy-side firm, or consulting firm.
- Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in financial modeling.
- Proactive, responsible, and intellectually curious personality.
- Prior experience and/or interest in the investment mandate is a plus.
