About the role
This position supports the firm's Investment Policy Committee (IPC), the group responsible for the firm's investment decision-making. The role provides meaningful contributions throughout the entire portfolio management process, assisting in research, financial modeling, portfolio analysis, and the preparation of reports and presentations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research into mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, fixed-income securities, and individual stocks.
- Build and maintain financial models in Excel; track investment statistics and manage data.
- Perform portfolio analysis and prepare RFPs and general presentations.
- Learn the trading systems and process at Nottingham; support the firm's proprietary trading process.
- Perform ad hoc fundamental research to assist in developing new portfolio themes and strategies, with a focus on macroeconomic trends and asset class valuation (equity, fixed income, alternatives).
- Conduct exchange-traded fund due diligence using research software including Bloomberg Professional and Morningstar Direct, as well as direct interaction with ETF providers.
- Utilize the firm's portfolio management system (PMS), Orion, to fulfill client reporting requirements.
- Create and update "deal books" on various investment strategies for use with client prospects.
- Support the production of the firm's regular (weekly, monthly, quarterly) research publications.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with, all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Meet all job-specific training requirements in a timely fashion.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed to support the department and the Bank in achieving their goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Finance, Economics, or Accounting) with a strong academic track record.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an analytical or financial role.
- Knowledge of the financial or brokerage industry is a plus.
- All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet modeling, graphing, and presentations.
- Familiarity with the Bloomberg Terminal.
- Able to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Desire to pursue the CFA Charter.
