Associate Platform Engineer

About the role

Own the operational layer that keeps our platform healthy and our engineers moving. This includes monitoring and improving our AWS environment, building observability and on-call infrastructure, managing on-call rotations, supporting internal tooling and dev environments, and ensuring SOC 2 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain AWS environment hygiene, including monitoring costs, rightsizing resources, cleaning up unused IAM roles, defining permissions, and dialing in ECS auto-scaling policies and RDS database utilization.
• Manage provisioning and support internal tooling and dev environments.
• Support SOC 2 compliance efforts by gathering evidence, taking screenshots, and keeping documentation current.
• Build and maintain observability infrastructure, ensuring monitoring is in place and alerts are firing at the right priority levels.
• Respond to incidents quickly, document root causes, and prevent recurrence.
• Ensure security practices are integrated into daily operations, such as IAM policies, security groups, and least-privilege access.
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Close loops on tasks efficiently and reliably.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, Linux administration, or a related field.
• Comfortable in AWS and always learning more.
• Understanding of observability and its importance.
• Experience with on-call rotations and incident response.
• Strong understanding of security principles and practices.
• Proven ability to automate manual processes.
• Able to close tasks independently and efficiently.
