Position Overview

The Associate Plant Technical Manager (APTM) assists the Plant Technical Manager (PTM) in delivering results for the plant and its supported businesses. This role is a developmental path towards becoming a PTM and covers leadership areas such as maintenance, system engineering, project engineering, capital stewardship, and people leadership. The APTM manages salaried direct reports and has dotted-line engineering accountability to the North America Retail Region Engineering Leader.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leadership Development: Develops the site strategic plan for technical staffing, capital investment, general competencies, and system/technology improvements. Mentors and develops plant technical resources.

  • Technical Leadership: Provides technical leadership and ensures compliance with EPA and OSHA requirements. Leads safety initiatives in technical areas.

  • Capital Planning & Execution: Develops and executes short-term and long-range capital investment plans. Manages the capital investment process.

  • Vertical Start Up/Continuous Improvement/Zero Loss Culture: Develops and supports strategies integrating VSU, CI, and Zero Loss Culture methodologies. Leads plant continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintenance & Reliability: Coaches and develops Maintenance and Facilities Managers. Supports maintenance programs, tools, and resources. Ensures proper selection, training, and development of leaders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field with 6+ years of technical experience in manufacturing environments, including maintenance.

  • Strong engineering aptitude, problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities.

  • Experience leading projects and teams, interacting with various business functions, and understanding manufacturing improvement methodologies.

  • Unwavering commitment to food, human, and environmental safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (ABET).

  • Direct experience leading maintenance teams and engineers.

  • Experience with industrial and labor relations.

  • Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing improvement methodologies like Six Sigma, TPM, CI, Zero Loss Culture, or Lean Manufacturing.

  • International relocation or remote working arrangements are not considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $108,900.00 - $163,500.00 annually. Pay reflects experiences, performance, and skills for the current role. Benefits include health benefits, retirement, financial wellbeing, time off programs, wellbeing support, and perks. An annual incentive program may be available.
