About the role
The Associate Pastor position at Syracuse Alliance Church is designed to support the Lead Pastor in various aspects of church life, including pastoral care, discipleship, and ministry oversight. This role also includes leadership in key fellowship and Youth ministries, assistance with church administration, and ensuring the spiritual health and operational effectiveness of the church.
Responsibilities
- Share in the preaching and teaching responsibilities as needed, bringing biblical, relevant, and Spirit-led messages.
- Partner with the Lead Pastor to officiate weddings and funerals, providing pastoral care to families as needed.
- Create and maintain a Communion schedule, coordinating with the Elders.
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to develop and execute strategic initiatives that align with the church's mission and vision.
- Represent the church in the community, building relationships and creating opportunities for outreach and service.
- Lead efforts to connect new attendees to pathways of membership, baptism, service, small groups, and spiritual growth.
- Emphasize families as the foundation of the congregation, focusing on Youth and Family Ministry.
- Participate in pastoral care, counseling, and home visitation to youth and families.
- Create and shepherd a bi-weekly middle school Youth Sunday School, guiding, mentoring, and discipling the members of the relevant ministry team.
- Bring creativity, energy, and heart to help students find their place in God’s story and in the mission of SAC.
- Assess ministry needs and develop programs and activities to meet those needs (e.g., Easter, Christmas, and other holiday outreaches, Vacation Bible School, tutoring programs, and other outreach events).
Qualifications
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Proven ability to lead leaders and inspire teams toward a shared vision.
- Strong strategic thinking and organizational skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to serve in various capacities as needs arise.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to the church’s mission and values.
- A degree in ministry, theology, or a related field, or equivalent ministry training.
- Proven ministry experience.
- A current C&MA accreditation or willingness to begin the C&MA licensing process with Northeastern District once on staff.
