About the role

The Illinois State Archaeological Survey is seeking to hire a Research Scientist, Archaeology, at the Principal or Associate level to develop, lead, and manage all levels of archaeological analysis, research, and review of compliance reports and other publications for the Survey and Office of the State Archaeologist.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and manage all levels of archaeological analysis, research, and review of compliance reports and other publications for the Survey and Office of the State Archaeologist.

Requirements

• PhD in Archaeology or related field required.
• Experience in archaeological fieldwork and laboratory analysis.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of archaeological methods and theories.
• Experience with GIS and database management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with archaeological software such as TMS, ArcGIS, or similar.
