Associate or Full Teaching Professor and Director of Graduate Programs- School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences seek a highly innovative and experienced 52-week non-tenure track (NTT) faculty member to serve as Associate/Full Teaching Professor and Director of Graduate Programs. This role acts as the academic and administrative leader for the School's M.S. and Ph.D. programs, advancing, scaling, and modernizing graduate education across modalities (on-ground, online synchronous/asynchronous, hybrid) and global campuses. The position emphasizes interdisciplinary areas such as biomedical sciences, AI-driven drug discovery, biopharma, biotech, and translational therapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Program Leadership, Governance & Oversight
- Serve as the primary academic and administrative lead for graduate programs, ensuring alignment with institutional, accreditation (NECHE), and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee curriculum governance, updates, and compliance processes for M.S. and Ph.D. programs.
- Manage program assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement in collaboration with the M.S./Ph.D. Committee, Program Manager, and Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Assessment.
- Chair the M.S./Ph.D. Committee, advancing its agenda in response to standing and assigned charges.
- Collaborate with faculty and leadership to secure industry partnerships and funding (e.g., industry-led Ph.D. contracts, training grants, fellowships).
- Curriculum Innovation & Assessment
- Develop new market-aligned graduate courses/programs (e.g., AI in drug discovery, cell therapy, immuno-engineering) in collaboration with university strategic units.
- Modernize and scale programs with a focus on interdisciplinary fields (biomedical sciences, AI/tech integration, biopharma, translational therapeutics).
- Ensure curricular content delivery aligns with learning modalities (on-ground, online, hybrid) across global campuses.
- Integrate experiential learning, industry partnerships, and research-based training.
- Guide the M.S./Ph.D. Committee in developing learning outcomes and assessment strategies per NECHE standards.
- Direct annual curriculum reviews and assessment programs.
- Develop systems to collect, analyze, and report assessment data from students, faculty, alumni, and partners.
- Student Success, Mentoring & Academic Integrity
- Oversee student progression, advising, and milestone achievement (e.g., candidacy, graduation).
- Provide graduate-student mentoring and advising.
- Serve as an ex officio member of M.S. thesis and Ph.D. dissertation committees.
- Formulate and oversee remediation plans for academic misconduct/probation in collaboration with student services.
- Ensure conformity with NECHE accreditation standards for curricular and assessment practices.
- Student Recruitment & Enrollment Growth
- Partner with enrollment management to develop and execute recruitment strategies.
- Evaluate graduate applicants and improve yield from diverse, high-quality candidate pools.
- Expand domestic and international pipelines.
- Collaborate with admissions and program staff on outreach, applicant evaluations, and offer follow-up.
- External Engagement & Partnerships
- Build partnerships with industry, biotech, hospitals, and research institutions to strengthen educational programs and alumni opportunities.
- Develop co-op opportunities, advisory boards, and collaborative training programs.
- Represent the program in external and internal meetings/events.
- Faculty & Instructional Leadership
- Collaborate with the Department Chair on teaching assignments, course scheduling, and adjunct faculty recruitment/oversight.
- Teach graduate courses per departmental workload policies (typically 1–2 course releases annually for program directors).
- Engage in professional development for faculty/staff in curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment.
- Strategic Growth, Reporting & Communication
- Identify new market-aligned program opportunities (e.g., M.S. in Biomedical AI, Cell Therapy, Digital Health) and teaching modalities.
- Lead grant development and educational funding initiatives for graduate students.
- Align programs with workforce and market needs.
- Provide input into the School’s strategic initiatives for graduate programs.
- Compile the annual M.S./Ph.D. Committee Report and assist in preparing school-wide goals.
- Ensure efficient communication regarding curriculum and assessment activities.
- Faculty Responsibilities
- Engage in teaching and scholarship, with workload determined annually by the Department Chair.
Requirements
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, or related field.
- Significant experience in graduate education leadership or program development.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement innovative curricula.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Experience with committee governance, curriculum assessment, and accreditation processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in interdisciplinary fields (drug development, AI/ML, immuno-oncology, cell therapy, digital health).
- Industry or translational research experience.
- Track record of successful student recruitment and program growth.
- Experience managing accreditation or program evaluation (e.g., NECHE).
- Experience chairing academic or graduate committees.

Pay
Associate Teaching Professor: $122,000 – $145,000 | Teaching Professor: $129,000 – $161,000. Starting salary depends on education, experience, location, knowledge, and skills, and is subject to regular review.
