About the role

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Neonatology & Newborn Services in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of basic or translational perinatal research. The successful candidate will serve as the Director of a newly formed Perinatal Research Center (PRC).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Director of a newly formed Perinatal Research Center (PRC)
  • Work with medical students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and other trainees
  • Engage, lead, and energize the scientific community across the CHOP Research Institute to build new programs and collaborations at CHOP and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
  • Advance their own research program and develop a world-class investigative group committed to the mission of the Perinatal Research Center

Requirements

  • Must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree
  • Rank will be commensurate with experience

Qualifications

  • Expertise in the specific area of basic or translational perinatal research
  • Ability to engage, lead, and energize the scientific community across the CHOP Research Institute
  • Commitment to fostering innovative research focused on fundamental questions in developmental biology and the developmental origins of health and disease
  • Interest in addressing improvement of neonatal outcomes, health care delivery, and health inequities

Skills

  • Strong research and scholarship skills
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of individuals
