About the role
The Department of Criminal Justice & Security Studies (CJ&SS) at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking to fill one full-time position in Intelligence and National Security Studies beginning in Fall 2027 at the Associate or Full Professor level.
Responsibilities
- Conducting and publishing scholarly research
- Seeking extramural funding
- Teaching face-to-face and online courses
- Service to the department, university, and profession
Requirements
- Ph.D. from an accredited university in security studies, political science, public policy, history, psychology, criminal justice, or a closely related discipline
- ABD applicants will be considered if a doctorate degree will be in hand by Fall 2027
- An active research agenda that includes scholarly publications is required to apply
- Applicants possessing only a J.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. will not be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Areas of expertise are open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise and a research agenda in advanced technologies in intelligence and national security, broadly conceived
- This primarily includes influence operations and disinformation; cyber warfare, cyber operations, cyber security, or cybercrime; Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy; and possibly others
- It also includes the technical aspects of collection and analysis, especially SIGINT, GEOINT, MASINT, or technical collection in contested environments
