About the role
The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is recruiting for a tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full level in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
Responsibilities
- Lead a cutting-edge esophageal research program focused on advancing the understanding, diagnosis, and management of esophageal diseases.
- Develop and maintain an innovative, extramurally funded research program and contribute to the Division's research portfolio.
- Provide strategic leadership in esophageal research.
- Teach and mentor fellows, residents, medical students, postdoctoral scholars, and junior faculty, as appropriate.
- Contribute to educational programs in gastroenterology and esophageal diseases.
- Participate in divisional, departmental, and University service activities.
- Contribute to maintaining a collegial and collaborative academic environment.
Qualifications
- An MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD in Biomedical or Health Sciences Field relevant to Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
- Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology and a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
- A minimum of eight years of research productivity and current extramural grant funding.

Pay
The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $97,500 - $440,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
