Midtown bank is seeking an Associate/Operations Staff to perform clerical work related to loan, money market, and securities transactions (including CD) and prepare various reports for submission to Head Office, as well as to US and Japanese regulatory agencies.
This position is currently on hold, but similar openings may become available.
Responsibilities
- Loan Operations
- Serve as liaison for customers and agencies by collecting and/or confirming loan information with agents or customers.
- Dispatch confirmation letters to customers (direct loan) and receive confirmation letters from agents/customers (indirect loan).
- Receive and file Promissory Notes (Japanese-Loan).
- Conduct cash flow operations by preparing and delivering funding notices to the Treasury Department and monitoring incoming funds.
- Conduct GBS operations (loan and guarantee transaction bookkeeping) by preparing GBS input sheets and entering data into GBS.
- Prepare reports relating to market risk control.
- Money Operations
- Liaise with counterparties and brokers by confirming direct money deals, dispatching confirmation letters, and receiving/checking confirmation letters.
- Conduct money transfer operations by transferring money directly and requesting transfers to custodian banks for securities settlements.
- Monitor cash flow (debits and credits) by checking the Money Transfer Balance daily, resolving failed payments or discrepancies, and printing release reports.
- Conduct GBS operations (money transaction bookkeeping) by preparing GBS input sheets and entering data into GBS.
- Security Operations
- Liaise with custodians and counterparties for securities and SWAP transactions.
- Conduct cash flow operations by preparing funding notices for the Treasury Department, preparing money transfers, and monitoring incoming funds.
- Conduct GBS operations (securities transaction bookkeeping) by preparing GBS input sheets and entering data into GBS.
- Reporting Operations
- Prepare reports for Head Office, the Federal Reserve Bank of NY, the New York State Department of Financial Services, and Japanese regulatory agencies.
- Conduct securities revaluation by collecting market prices and preparing spreadsheets.
- Assist the Operations Manager with revising and updating operational procedures and manuals.
- Assist the Middle Office Manager by managing the GBS System, entering daily input sheets, and printing monthly data sheets.
- Complete brokerage payments by reconciling statements with GBS data, preparing input sheets, and wiring payments.
- Conduct GBS data entry for the General Affairs Department.
- Complete responsibilities and special projects as assigned by management.
- Assist other sections of the Operations Department and perform duties assigned by the General Manager and Senior Deputy General Manager.
Requirements
- Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
- Some experience preferred but not required; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
- Skills and Abilities
- Native-level English fluency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, and internal databases.
- Ability to respond tactfully and flexibly to multiple work pressures.
- Strong communication skills to convey ideas and information clearly.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods with or without assistance.
Pay
50,000–60,000 USD per year
