Associate Merchant - Basic Candy
Position Summary
As an Associate Merchant, you will support category management through supplier negotiations, purchase order administration, and item setup to ensure accurate product representation across channels. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience, executing promotional strategies, and leveraging data analysis to inform category performance and forecasting. You will contribute to modular assortment planning and maintain strong vendor relationships while upholding company standards and ethical practices. Your efforts will drive operational excellence and support Walmart’s commitment to delivering value and quality to customers.
About the team
The team manages all Omni Basic Candy items across stores and online, ensuring customers have access to their preferred candy at great value daily. They collaborate closely with suppliers and vendors to maintain strong relationships and optimize product assortment. Utilizing data analysis and category strategy, the team supports effective supplier management and negotiation. They also contribute to project management and sales analysis to enhance category performance. Focused on delivering consistent value, the team plays a key role in executing merchandising plans and maintaining accurate product information to support a seamless customer experience.
What you'll do
- Support merchants in supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories.
- Aid in resolving supplier issues and facilitate new supplier setups for stores and online channels.
- Own execution of customer communication and education programs, collaborating with modular and site merchandising teams.
- Analyze sales and category data to inform forecasting, budgeting, and inventory decisions.
- Implement and support category features, promotions, and modular assortment strategies.
- Maintain product page content quality and manage item setup and sample processes.
- Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to drive business solutions and continuous improvements.

- The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00
- Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.

- Bachelors: Business, Bachelors: Merchandising
- Microsoft Office, Negotiating with third-party suppliers, Pricing, site merchandising, planning or inventory, or related area
