About the role
Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a full-time Associate Medical Director to provide medical oversight and leadership for hospice patients and their families across Broward County.
Responsibilities
- Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the APRN and/or RN to evaluate and initiate treatments for pain/symptom management.
- This is primarily completed through in person visits.
- Collaborates with the RN to create and implement the appropriate plan of care.
- Collaborates with the patient’s attending physician as needed to develop and update the patient’s plan of care, ensuring the provision of direct medical services to ensure pain and symptom management.
- Serves as a medical resource and educator to staff, patients, families, and attending physicians regarding admission criteria, pain and symptom control management, and end of life care.
- Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Meets as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.
- Participates in IDG meetings as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.
Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a related specialty.
- Current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ recent active practice with direct clinical medical care experience.
- Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
- Hospital staff privileges at one or more hospitals commonly serving patients in the service area strongly preferred.
- Current Federal DEA registration.
- Valid CPR Certification required if patient facing.
Qualifications
- Experience in hospice and palliative care is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
