Reporting to our Hoffman Estates, IL office, this role supports customers in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with on-site repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance for CNC’s and related peripheral equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for CNC machines, including servo, spindle drives, and motor systems
- Investigate customer issues and perform root cause analysis under the guidance of a Supervisor/Manager
- Participate in structured training programs, including on-the-job and classroom learning
- Support the company’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations and building effective customer service skills
- Communicate all quality-related concerns promptly to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager
- Manage and control assigned inventory to ensure accuracy and availability
- Learn and follow service operations, procedures, and company policies, including accurate and timely submission of required documentation
- Maintain and safeguard company-issued tools and equipment
- Travel to customer sites as required, including 2–8 overnight stays per month, and ability to travel by air for training and meetings
- Operate under the direction of a Supervisor/Manager, who provides detailed guidance and matches assignments to experience level
- Collaborate with Supervisor/Manager to determine appropriate diagnosis, repair actions, and parts requirements, frequently working alongside senior-level Field Service Engineers
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proven experience providing customer support, preferably in a technical customer-facing role or field service environment
- Familiarity with common electrical components such as relays, circuit breakers, sensors, and motors
- Ability to maintain tools and equipment while transporting parts and materials (up to 75 lbs) to customer locations
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in identifying and resolving equipment issues
- Ability to analyze problems, select preliminary solutions, and adapt approaches as needed
- Ability to learn quickly and effectively apply new concepts to changing technical environments
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in CNC systems and related equipment
- Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license and maintain a personal vehicle for business use
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Mechatronics, or graduation from a Technical Trade School
- Two years of relevant experience in a technical customer support or field service environment
Pay
$53,578 - $85,948 per year, including bonuses and profit sharing. The compensation package will be determined by factors such as geographic location, educational attainment, and level of experience.
