Associate Mechatronics Field Engineer
The Associate Field Service Engineer will provide extensive service to most commonly encountered products and problems without assistance. This intermediate-level position requires broad technical knowledge applied through advanced engineering principles, practices, and techniques.
About the role
Reporting to our Pine Brook, New Jersey office, the Associate Field Service Engineer supports customers in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, and a portion of Pennsylvania with on-site repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance services for CNCs and related system peripheral equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for CNCs, servo, spindle drive, and motor products.
- Investigate customer complaints and perform analysis to determine the cause(s).
- Operate with consistent support of Supervisor/Manager.
- Participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction.
- Understand and promote the company goal of exceeding customer expectations while learning how to deal with customers.
- Report quality problems to the appropriate manager/supervisor as they are encountered.
- Control inventory as assigned.
- Maintain all company-provided equipment, including tools.
- Travel as required within company-provided directions and guidelines.
- Travel to customer sites, with overnight travel approximately 2 or 3 nights per month.
- Able to travel by airplane for training purposes/meetings as needed.
- Supervisor/Manager provides detailed instructions and screens assignments to ensure a proper match for the Service Engineer’s level of expertise.
- Appropriate diagnosis, repair, and parts needs will be discussed with the Supervisor/Manager.
- Frequent work with a more senior-level Field Service Engineer.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Transport equipment and parts (weighing up to 75 pounds) to customer locations.
- Diagnose and problem-solve.
- Make preliminary selections and adapt engineering alternatives.
- Learn and absorb new ideas quickly and completely to keep current with changes in technology and methodologies.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Troubleshooting ability.
- Use of diagnostic tools.
- Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Able to drive throughout the organization’s service area for business as required.
- Able to legally rent and operate a vehicle in the United States and Canada for business travel purposes.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Mechatronics, Technical Trade School graduate, and/or relevant work experience in a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience in a technical customer support or field service environment.
- Previous CNC exposure or experience.

Pay Range
$53,000 - $85,000 per year.
