About the role

As an Associate Team Leader for H-E-B, you’ll participate in a structured 6-month program that prepares you to lead great people while ensuring our products and supply chain are the most efficient and effective in the business. The program includes a Dedicated Trainer, Professional Development Workshops, exposure to multiple areas of the business, and networking opportunities with Supply Chain Leaders. Upon completion, you will have developed the essential knowledge and skills required to become a Team Leader in Manufacturing, Warehouse, Transportation, or eCommerce Fulfillment.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve superior self-manufacturing products through high-quality, low-cost foods while continuing commitment to the growth, development, and training of our People and meeting service-level goals.
  • Training mode: Assigned to a specific team with direct supervision; shadow and be mentored by a Team Leader II.
  • Management: Use independent judgment to make employment-related and business decisions (e.g., product/department strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, or resolving Partner-related matters).
  • Ensure appropriate coaching and training is received and administer certification tests.
  • Notify appropriate leader of critical situations and ensure compliance with internal practices and external policies.
  • Communicate tactical plans and initiatives to gain partner cooperation.
  • Provide input on staffing levels and participate in sourcing and interviewing candidates.
  • Identify and develop team coordinators.
  • Process work injuries and provide detailed shift summaries to other leaders.
  • Implement plans and prepare/communicate team goals to leaders.
  • Monitor and adjust labor requirements to balance staffing levels and overtime costs.
  • Regularly review and communicate results with the team.
  • Ensure compliance with work instructions, standards, and product specifications.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of related experience (required).
  • High Performance Work Team experience (preferred).
  • Participation in Leadership training and BET (required).
  • Working knowledge of compliance requirements (industry, EEOC, and employment laws).
  • Verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical and influencing skills (people and process).
  • Proficiency in operating internal/external software and systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, shift focus between tasks, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 1 year of related experience (preferred).
  • Successful completion of company-sponsored training and development classes (required).

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Travel by car or plane with overnight stays.
  • Work flexible and/or rotating schedules, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ambient temperatures range from -20°F to 100°F; most often 65–85°F.
