Why does the job exist?
The Associate Manager Nursing supports the Nursing Manager and nursing leadership team in overseeing daily nursing operations within the facility. This role is responsible for assisting in the management and coordination of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, and promoting high-quality, resident-centered care.
How does it get done?
- Assist the Nursing Manager in planning, directing, and coordinating daily nursing operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of care.
- Supervise and evaluate nursing staff performance, providing coaching, feedback, and support to promote professional growth and high-quality care.
- Oversee scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to meet resident care needs and comply with budgetary constraints.
- Ensure nursing staff adherence to facility policies, nursing standards, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Participate in development and implementation of quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and resident satisfaction, working collaboratively to address any issues or concerns.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, residents, and families.
- Serve as acting Nursing Manager in their absence, making decisions and managing operations as required.

The primary customer are the brave men and women that answered our nation's call, executed their duties, and now are unable to live in their respective communities due to failing health. This job will also support the widows of the service men and women to include parents that have lost children in combat (Gold Star Parents).
What do we look for in an ideal candidate?
- A highly skilled and experienced nursing professional who demonstrates strong leadership abilities and a commitment to delivering exceptional, veteran-centered care.
- A current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the New Mexico Board of Nursing or from a compact state with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- A solid clinical background with at least 3-5 years of nursing experience, including a minimum of 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a long-term care, skilled nursing, or acute care setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead nursing teams, collaborate with interdisciplinary staff, and interact compassionately with residents and their families.
- A strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including CMS, OSHA, HIPAA, and state nursing regulations.
- Experience in quality improvement, staff development, and conflict resolution.
Qualifications
- Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico.
- Must have at least 2 years of management experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

- Valid New Mexico driver's license is required.
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate is required.

- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed within a long-term facility.
- Frequent communication and interaction with residents, staff, and the public.
- Possible exposure to contagious viruses and diseases.
- Occasional travel for training & meetings and driving a State of NM owned motor vehicle may be required.
- Extended hours to meet deadlines may be required.
