Associate Landlord-Tenant Attorney

Essential Functions

• Handle and oversee landlord–tenant legal matters across the Velair portfolio, including evictions, lease enforcement, unlawful detainer actions, rent escrow claims, and related proceedings.
• Represent Velair in housing court, mediation sessions, and administrative hearings as required.
• Prepare, review, and file pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other legal documents related to landlord–tenant matters.
• Manage case workflow efficiently to support portfolio operations across multiple counties.

Advisory & Risk Management

• Provide ongoing legal advice to property management and leadership regarding landlord–tenant issues, resident disputes, and operational decisions.
• Advise on risk mitigation strategies related to lease language, enforcement practices, resident communications, and operational procedures.
• Review and approve lease templates, notices, and internal policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
• Provide guidance on fair housing compliance and related regulatory matters.

Training & Internal Support

• Serve as a legal resource for escalated resident grievances and complex operational issues.
• Collaborate with leadership on legal strategy related to portfolio operations and policy development.
• Support operational teams with practical, solution-oriented legal guidance.
