Associate Lab Technologist
About the role
We're seeking an Associate Lab Technologist to join our Pittsburgh laboratory team, working an onsite Sunday - Thursday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Prepare specimens for analysis and organize tests to be performed.
- Prepare and properly label reagents required for laboratory testing.
- Conduct genetic analysis of blood, saliva, dried blood spots or human tissue to determine presence of abnormal sequence changes.
- Review test results for quality control purposes, maintain legible work records, and enter findings into the laboratory information systems.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
- Verify proper instrument function by checking and calibrating lab instruments and document data.
- Record on instrument log any repairs, replacements, and maintenance performed on laboratory instruments.
- Participate, as requested, in the training of new employees.
- Abide by laboratory safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in biology or related scientific discipline and one of the following:
- A minimum of 0-2 years of lab experience OR
- Completion of a molecular genetics training program, one year of experience in a molecular genetics laboratory
Preferred Qualifications
- ASCP certification preferred but not required.
Pay
The base salary range for this full-time position is $20/hr - $23/hr. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
