About the role

An Associate Instrumentation Engineer generates instrumentation project deliverables and collaborates with project instrumentation designers on new or updated process instrumentation. The role involves site surveys, client documentation searches, and marking up drawings or data sheets for existing instrumentation and wiring details.

Responsibilities

  • Review project requirements and scopes of work
  • Attend client technical meetings and field walk-down meetings
  • Perform instrument site surveys and walk-downs
  • Develop and prepare as-built or as-found instrumentation documentation
  • Perform client instrument documentation searches to locate required project documents
  • Generate instrumentation data sheets, loop drawings, installation details, instrument lists, DCS/PLC I/O lists, and P&IDs
  • Provide technical support for field execution, including outage and turnaround projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) licensure
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of ISA, API, and ASME instrumentation standards
  • Working knowledge of SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation)

  • Develop instrumentation knowledge and project skills
  • Enhance skills for generating instrument deliverables
  • Build client and site-specific expertise

Field Assignment Requirements

Individual field assignments may have unique requirements. Prior to deployment, you must meet all client-specific site requirements. If unable or unwilling to meet these, continued employment depends on the availability of other assignments with compatible requirements.

  • Possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
  • Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms, scaffolding, or ladders using required fall protection
  • Work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Adhere to client-specific random drug testing programs
  • Comply with client facial hair safety policies

Pay

Base salary range: $90,000 – $130,000 annually. The final salary is determined by factors such as depth of experience, skill set, certifications, work location, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive discretionary bonuses or other incentive compensation.
