Associate Instructor Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting

Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Athens is accepting applications for a full-time Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting Associate Instructor position at the TCAT Polk County Campus. This position and will work a minimum of 37.5 hours a week.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with current active licensure in the State of Tennessee.
• Minimum three (3) years of successful nursing experience including two (2) or more years of long-term care experience highly preferred.
• Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students preferred.
• Possess the knowledge, experience and certifications necessary to instruct in the areas of Certified Nuse Assistant, Phlebotomy, EKG, CPR, First Aid, Anatomy, and Medical Records.

Job Duties

• Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours.
• Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi.
• Remain current within instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
• Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities including SkillsUSA and NTHS.
• Aid in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; assist in the accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision-making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend graduation exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration, on and off campus.

• Must have the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs, audio/visual equipment, and software.
• Must have the ability to multitask with good organization and planning skills.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

Salary Range

$51,149 to $61,379
