Associate Instructional Assistant, Veterinary Technology
Job Description
Provides academic support to Veterinary Technology program students. Works directly with students assisting in one-on-one, small group, and classroom settings. Supports the Program’s objectives and initiatives as directed.
Essential Functions
- Directly supervises Veterinary Technology Program students’ homework and practice labs ensuring adherence to lab rules, policies and procedures
- Ensures that the lab provides a safe learning environment
- Aids in the development of educational action plans
- Aids in individual and/or small group tutoring sessions
- Works with and/or demonstrates various types of audio-visual materials, computer applications, and other materials or delivery systems used in an instructional program
- Aids in the recruitment and retention of program students
- May supervise Work-Study students and Student Assistants
- Visits classes or consults with faculty as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Animal Health or Veterinary Technology
- Current and active RVT certification in the State of Ohio
- Minimum one year of clinical experience with Veterinary Technology

- Possess working knowledge of Veterinary Technology concepts with the ability to apply in various situations
- Demonstrated knowledge of exemplary instructional methods and practices
- Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

- Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and counseling

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated; Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.; Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
Special Note
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, Grade 08, with a Minimum Hiring Rate of: $20.00/ hour. If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1
