Responsibilities
- Load and unload all inbound and outbound trailers, trucks, vans, ensuring safety devices are used and distribution center procedures are followed.
- Verify receipts against delivery manifests and/or purchase orders.
- Familiarize with use of receiving forms and maintenance records.
- Operate computer terminals in an automatic receiving and shipping environment.
- Stock merchandise in proper locations according to standard company practice.
- Operate various types of manual or powered hand trucks, and industrial lift trucks to move merchandise.
- Fill customer orders from computer-generated picking documents to select merchandise ordered.
- Pack a variety of products in standard containers according to prescribed practices and assemble orders for pickup or for loading on delivery trucks.
- Prepare items as per customer packaging, labeling, and shipping requirements, packing items for orders to ship daily to customers according to departmental procedures.
- Operate all material handling equipment, vertical baler, pallet jack, two wheel cart, bar code scanners, conveyor, air machine, sealed air, shipping manifest systems.
- Awareness of all products and product handling requirements.
- Maintain warehouse inventory levels and replenish inventory into warehouse racking.
- Assist warehouse team with assigned tasks.
- Interface with Sysmex internal and external customers as needed or directed on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Recommends and develops ideas for improvement in operating methods and procedures to resolve problems prior to or when they arise.
- Follow the guidelines and directions set by the Distribution Management Team.
- Participate in all continuous improvement projects and cost-saving measures.
- Follow distribution procedures in accordance with cGXP, FDA, OSHA, IATA, DOT, TSA and other applicable regulations or other foreign authority of regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of personal time records and reduce expenses for items such as material handling equipment, building, and product.
- Maintain housekeeping duties and designated aisles.
- Demonstrate good customer service to all departments through timely movement of goods into and out of the warehouse.
- Contribute to good customer service through follow-up of issues and concerns of internal and external customers.
- Promote customer-centric environment.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- At least 2 years prior distribution or warehouse experience including barcode scanners, printers, etc.
- Ability to speak, read, and comprehend in English simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Experience in forklift operation.
- Perform accountabilities and tasks of the function within established productivity requirements.
