Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on heat pumps and associated HVAC equipment.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in heat pump systems, including refrigerant leaks, defrost cycle issues, reversing valves, compressors, and electrical components.
- Troubleshoot and repair residential HVAC systems, thermostats, and related controls.
- Respond promptly to service calls and emergency work orders to restore heating and cooling to occupied housing units.
- Maintain accurate digital and written records of maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment conditions.
- Assist senior technicians with major repairs, installations, and system upgrades as needed.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications, EPA regulations, and base housing standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment, with strong attention to resident safety and property protection.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to military residents and command staff.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including OSHA guidelines and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required.
- Up to two (2) years of related professional experience.
- Type 2 or higher EPA certification is required.
Additional Qualifications
- Formal HVAC training from a trade or vocational school is preferred.
- At least one (1) year of verifiable experience in HVAC maintenance and repair (residential or light commercial) preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb ladders.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Demonstrated experience working on heat pumps is strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, refrigeration theory, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
Pay
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $25.48 - $37.01 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role. Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
